Hi Lefties!
As I venture into this new realm here on Patreon I need to know what kind of content you would like to see as a cast on row supporter. Some of the ideas I can think of is a live stream of…???, a knit along and….let me know what you’d like for me to add as an option.
I’d like to see everything available to right handed people, available to us!!!!!
Books, podcasts, patterns, step by step instruction on all the different stitches, etc.,
Instructions on how to mirror videos so YouTube videos can be viewed “backwards”’for lefties.
Hmm…I have to think about how to do that.
I’d like to see anything and everything! There are so few resources for left handed knitters.
I find I get stuck on different stitches other than basic ones! Thank you for providing this to us!
I agree with the above. I want to see anything about lefthanded knitting. Is there a resource for lefties patterns?
No. All patterns are written for right handed knitters. WAH!
For the life of me I cannot remember how I figured out how to do a left-handed SSP, and I can’t find any resources for it at all—I know it’s not a commonly used stitch unless the direction of the decrease matters, but this is something that all lefties should be able to look up because some patterns do call for specific directional decreases. People who are right-handed don’t have this issue—I think it might involve a YO for the left-handed stitch, but I’m not sure.
I’m a fairly new to knitting myself so thank you for writing this blog! I was just looking for a resource that would help me figure out how to change a pattern so it reads for a lefty. For example, for a sweater where it instructs right handers to M1L– do I M1L the left-handed way or should I actually make a M1R instead? Thanks!
You would do the mirror opposite so you are correct, you will M1R.
I would love to see instructions for various uttonboles. I can usually transpose instructions from right-handers, but buttonholes stump me each time.
Good idea!
Knitting etiquette. Is it rude to take knitting to a social event? I would love to hear opinions.
It really depends on the event and the comfort level you have with others. I knit during large work inservice days (I work at a school), but I don’t knit during in small meetings. I bring my knitting everywhere and I pull it out from time to time. I freely knit during family functions.
